'The world was in isolation, but we were not alone, we were all enveloped under the same sky'.
The very first lockdown of 2020 had a major impact on Judy McKenzie's work, her nerikomi vessels always showing a bold eye for colour however suddenly beginning to absorb influence from her surroundings, focusing in particular by the comfort taken by the shared experience of the changing skies.
Judy's work, to me, is exactly the memories I want to carry forward with me from everything over the last 2 years: a greater sense of appreciation for our surroundings, much time spent outdoors with impromptu alfresco dining and long walks with friends and time to notice the big bold sky.
